Stuck? It’s Your Time to Move On and Create What You Want

For most people their life works AND there’s that one area that doesn't work as well as they want it to.

That area feels like it doesn’t change or it changes slightly but the change doesn’t last long-term.

Take a look for yourself: What’s your area? It may feel like a movie that’s on repeat. The same or different actions with disappointing results over and over again. You may make progress but at the end of the day you don’t get where you want. In today’s blog I’ll share my strategy for how to get yourself unstuck and the best way to move that area forward.

Let’s begin with the definition of the word stuck:

  • caught or fixed, baffled

Where in your life do you feel like you are stuck? A situation that feels fixed, like it doesn’t seem to change no matter what you try to do about it. You keep ending up in the same situation. What area of your life is baffling to you? That means that you say or think to yourself: “How is it that I am still in this situation???”

As you read this blog, I invite you to take the content and map it onto the area of your life where you are stuck. I laid out today’s blog in a simple way that you can read and answer the questions.

Get Unstuck: Here’s How

Ask Yourself: “What SPECIFICALLY am I stuck in?”

  • Clearly communicate it to yourself.

  • To get unstuck your brain needs you to be specific.

  • Sometimes we are not actually clearly saying what we are stuck in. Instead, we communicate our frustration or feelings.

Examples of how someone could be stuck:

  • I said I would get a new job and I don’t have one. It’s been a year and I still don’t have a job.

  • My spouse passed away and I’m trying to live life after loss.

  • I said I would transition from working for my current job to starting my own business.

Identify What has You be Stuck?

  • You can’t change something you are not aware of.

  • Getting clear about what specifically has you be stuck is helpful. You can do something about it.

  • You can interrupt what is stopping you.

Common things that stop people:

  • I don’t know what to do.

  • I’m afraid of what will happen if I take action.

  • I have to know what’s going to happen.

  • I have to do it perfectly or I have to have it all figured out BEFORE I can get unstuck.

  • I am waiting for X, Y or Z.

What is your belief about the area you are stuck?

  • However you think about something is how it will show up.

  • Your brain will partner with your belief to make things be the way it believes.

  • Your thoughts, words, feelings and actions are all consistent with what you believe.

Ask Yourself:

  • What conversation can I have?

  • Who is someone I can speak with that can help me get unstuck? The most helpful people are those who have experience and results in the area you are working on.

  • What action is there for me to take to get unstuck?

Get in Action:

  • You will not get unstuck thinking about it,

  • All change happens when we take action.

Let’s Talk About Mentors & Coaches

A Mentor and/or Coach is a huge resource. Why find one? Do you really need one? Honestly, my belief is that it depends on what you are up to in the area where you are stuck.

A Mentor/Coach has experience in the spaces you will go through on your journey of getting unstuck and achieving your desired result. They are not there for you to be like them. In other words, the goal is not to be a “Mini-me” of your Coach. The goal is for you to learn the principles and/or skills the Coach has and APPLY them to your life. That principle will be an expression of you when you apply it in your life.

A Coach is someone who sees things from a different point of view because they are not in your shoes. They are a resource to give you feedback that you can’t see because you are looking at things from your vantage point.

A Coach is your Champion - relating to you as the person you really are. They see you as brilliant, capable and unstoppable. A Coach believes in you and your potential.

If you are committed to getting unstuck and you are ready to allow a guide to walk alongside you then a Mentor or Coach is invaluable.

Groups are a Powerful Resource When You are Getting Unstuck

As human beings we are designed to Live, Grow and Thrive in Groups. Groups are powerful Communities. In groups we get to have a place where we belong.Nearly all of my coaching is done in groups. Over the past 5 years, I have experienced the power of groups. The top 3 reasons why the women I work with find group coaching invaluable include:

  • “I feel like I am connected to women who believe in me.”

  • “I don’t feel judged. I can grow and not feel like people are judging me - they believe in me!”

  • “I realized that I am not the only one who struggles.”
